What is the live music scene like in Edinburgh?

I’ve looked at a few ticket websites and there doesn’t seem to be many big bands visiting the city so are they missing something or are there no major music venues? And if there isn’t any venues now, are there any plans for anything and where is the nearest place with a big music scene?

liquid rooms have live bands a lot, also pubs like whistlebinkies and bannermans have music every night, buy the list(magazine)it tells you whats happening and where

glasgow has a much bigger music scene, and its only like 40 mins from edinburgh. But when the fringe is on there is every kind of music from all over the world in Edinburgh all in one month it is amazing!
