Alfredo Alfredo: All too normal Italian comedy in regards to a milque toast who triumphs and weds a seductive female, only to remorse his conquest. Lone interest is recognizing Hoffman’s good work in this uncommon setting (with a dubbed voice!). Rent-a-Kid: While the head of an orphanage takes a holiday, dad Nielsen takes over with a plan to raise money by renting out kids. While unsurprising, this stupid premise is surprisingly effective. Eventually 3 youngsters are rented by a hip ’90s couple considering adopting. A respectable family flick. Cast includes Leslie Nielsen, Christopher Lloyd, Matt McCoy, Sherry Miller, and Amos Crawley. Airmail: Daring tale of pioneer airmail guides supercharged by fine aerial scenes and excellent cast. A first rate film. Cast includes Pat O’Brien, Ralph Bellamy, Russell Hopton, Thin Summerville, Frank Albertson, and Gloria Stuart. (83 minutes, 1932)
Mrs. Brown, You’ve got a Lovely Daughter: A stupid reprieve for a film, with Herman and his Hermits heading for London to enter their greyhound in a race. In between the anticipation they harmonize “There’s a Sort of Quiet All around the Planet” Cast includes Herman’s Hermits, Stanley Holloway, Mona Washbourne, Sara Caldwell, and Javelin Percival. (100 minutes, 1984)
Belles on Their Toes: Here, widowed architect Loy will battle to aid (in addition to raise) her aging brood. 20th Century Fox back lot seen at its best in recollecting early 1900s America. Clifton Webb makes a concise appearance at the finale.
